Petal is built privacy-first. The health and wellness information you enter stays on your device. We do not have user accounts, and we do not collect or store your personal health data on our servers.
1. Information We Collect
Petal lets you track things like your weight, height, age, medication and doses, symptoms, protein, water, meals, workouts, goals, and progress photos. This information is stored only on your device. It is not transmitted to us, and we cannot see it. We do not require you to create an account or give us your name or email to use the app.
2. How We Use Your Information
The information you enter is used only to power the features of the app on your device, for example calculating your protein goal, showing your Strength Score, drawing your progress charts, and sending you the local reminders you choose to enable.
3. Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Petal works with a small number of service providers:
- Open Food Facts — when you search a food or scan a barcode, the search term or barcode is sent to this open public database to return nutrition information. No personal or identifying information is sent.
- Apple — purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store under Apple's terms and privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — we use RevenueCat to manage and verify subscriptions. It receives a randomly generated, anonymous identifier and purchase transaction data, not your name or health data.
4. Data Retention
Because your information is stored on your device, it remains there until you delete it or remove the app. Any anonymous subscription records held by our payment providers are retained per their own policies.
5. Security Measures
Your data is kept in your device's app storage, protected by your phone's own security (passcode, Face ID, and device encryption). Because we don't transmit or store your health data on servers, there is no central database of your information to breach.
6. Children's Privacy
Petal is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Your Legal Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since your data lives on your device, you can exercise these directly by viewing, editing, or clearing it in the app. For anything held by our payment providers, contact us using the details below.
8. Automated Processing
Petal does not use artificial intelligence or automated decision-making on your personal data, and it does not profile you. Calculations such as your protein goal and Strength Score are simple, transparent formulas that run on your device.
9. Purchases & Subscriptions
Petal offers an auto-renewing subscription, billed through your Apple ID. We never receive or store your payment card details. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple ID.
10. Policy Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above.
